In the 1990's there was the New Age movement, in the 2000's it has changed to Crunchy. Basically the same thing but with a new and improved name. There also is a new term floating around Holistic, which is finding alternative health care from modern medicine. Both of these are interesting concepts and ways of life, but many people believe you have to be one or the other and if by chance you do not neatly fall into either one you are ostracized all together.
I like to think I fall somewhere in the middle, I like some crunchy ideas like breastfeeding, baby wearing, co-sleeping, raising your own food and being self efficient.
But I am not in to recycling, I do not lean to the Left politically, nor am I categorized a vegetarian, vegan, eco-tarian, conservationist, environmentalist, neo-hippy, tree hugger, nature enthusiasts, etc. The only thing I am close to is a conservationist only because I believe in land management and animal management like the Bible tells us to.
Arguing with someone who is truly crunchy is like arguing with a brick wall full of ninnies and it is usually over something stupid like using a chemical cleaner vs a eco-friendly cleaner or about circumcision or cloth diapering.
Everyone has a choice it is only your decision to make a choice in what you do, letting someone tell you what to do is like submitting to peer-pressure all over again.
Be you which is unique and different in your own right.
I like being a mix of things that I feel is right for my family and I, it works for us. But what works for my family may not work for your family and that is the key.
