The 4 Seasons of Ohio: Summer, Mud, Winter, and Mud

Living in Ohio is an adventure when it comes to weather, for example we have had snow on the ground for basically 3 months straight. And as all of the snow melts it brings on the next season of Ohio...MUD.
If you have ever or do live in Ohio you know what I am talking about when I say the season of mud, for most of Spring and Autumn fall into this category. Yes I know Spring brings warm weather, but it also brings the melting of the snow and rain which equals MUD. Fall just has rain and perhaps a the tiniest bit of snow, but that usually doesn't occur until December or January. So againg we have our second season of Mud.
As we welcome the Season of Mud (oh I mean Spring) with open arms after many months of snow, we can only hope that the warm weather is here to stay until next Winter.

The Hike

After a weekend of 50-60 degree weather, we were surprised on Monday afternoon/evening/night to receive 5-7 inches of snow. Waking up on Tuesday morning to another day of a winter wonderland, Katherine and I decide to take a short hike around the house. Which is hard to do when your 5 year old would rather shovel snow and build a snowman.

As we took our hike we found deer tracks almost filled with snow and a pretty view of our shed that is up the hill from the house. But all in all our hike was fun with just a pinch of cold noses thrown in.

Treasure Box Whistle Blower

The preschool that Katherine attends has a reward system that goes along with how well each child behaves. If a child was good, did what they were asked to do and listened they stay on Green, if the child did fairly well but were not great they are on Yellow. Now if he or she was bad they are on red, now if a student stays on Green all day they receive a star. After collecting 7 stars, they are allowed to get in the treasure box and pick the treasure of their choice. Getting in the treasure box is a big deal for the students, because it means they have done great the last couple of weeks.

Today Katherine was able to get in to the treasure box, she usually picks out temporary tattoos or bubbles. However today she picks out a plastic green whistle that has yet to be quieted, regardless if she is indoors or out. So fun is to be had with the simplicity of a whistle.

Movement

Ahh the feeling of an acrobat in training is one of God's ways of our unborn children letting us know they are there, they are growing daily and they love you already. Just as you love them as soon as you find out you are pregnant, sure it can seem unreal that you are pregnant at first that is until you see the baby on the ultrasound. For your husband or significant other it can take a while for them to comprehend that there truly is baby growing in your womb.
Many couples are now refusing an ultrasound from their doctor or midwife, because it is harmful to the baby. However research inconclusive on the subject and to be perfectly honest, I have yet to hear of a baby having a deformity from his or her Mother having 1-2 ultrasounds. Ultrasounds or sonograms as some call it, give a chance for Dad to truly comprehend the miracle of life. At the crisis pregnancy center my Mom works at, ultrasounds have given woman who were going down the path towards abortion the visual aid (their baby) they need to realize that its a human being and not just a blob. These ultrasound have given these women's significant others a chance to realize the same thing and turn away from abortion to keeping the baby. Which is a victory for Life.
